About Craig Crawfordm Memorial Scholarship

Mission:

Created in 2003, the mission of the Craig Crawford Memorial Scholarship is to encourage the charitable activities of law enforcement by supporting the financial needs of citizens within the community. The CCMS assists citizens within the community who demonstrate strong leadership skills and values but require financial assistance to achieve their goals.

Values and Principles:

Practice excellent stewardship for all donated charity funding.

The Craig Crawford Memorial Scholarship will:

  • Treat all applicants equally with dignity, respect and compassion regarding their educational financial needs
  • Provide financial aid without discrimination
  • Practice excellent stewardship for all donating sponsors
  • Promote open door communication with the public

History:

In 2002, off-duty Mineral Wells Detective Craig Crawford was on his way to meet friends and family at a golf tournament when a fatal automobile accident occurred. The law enforcement community agreed that Craig should receive the full honors of an officer killed in the line of duty. Law enforcement agencies from across the region attended the ceremony to give their utmost respect and appreciation for his work as a law enforcement officer.

2003
The non-profit Craig Crawford Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the fallen officer by assisting deserving citizens within our communities. The Craig Crawford Memorial Scholarship provides assistance for citizens seeking a career in law enforcement.

2004
The Craig Crawford Memorial Scholarship starts the High School Scholarships in which 17 scholarships have been granted to date.

2005

2008-Present
The Craig Crawford Memorial Scholarship continues working with high school students of law enforcement while working with local citizens. The CCMS is currently working to determine how they will expand their services to the community.

The Craig Crawford Memorial Scholarship fund hosts an annual golf tournament to raise money to assist law enforcement students and needy citizens in the area. The Craig Crawford Memorial Scholarship has awarded over $29,000 in scholarships within the local community and 10 years of scholarships to peace officer academy students.

We extend tremendous gratitude to our Sponsors, Players and volunteers. Together we are making a difference in Law Enforcement, financial aid for High School academic students, and community support.

Facts:

  • 60% of all scholarship monies awarded have been criminal justice students
  • 75% of the scholarship monies awarded have been financially underprivileged students
  • Selection criteria for the scholarships are reviewed on academic performance and financial need
  • All scholarship proceeds are dispersed directly to the educational facilities in the recipient’s name.
  • Annually, we assist a minimum of four high school students and one law enforcement peace officer academy student.
